Unknown hoodlums in the early hours of Friday attacked an army checkpoint located at Tonimas junction on Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway of Aba in Abia state, setting a patrol vehicle on fire.
ABN TV gathered that officers of the Nigerian Army usually arrive the junction in the morning to forestall break down of law and order especially any day pronounced as a sit-at-home in Abia.
Unknown to them however that the hoodlums had laid ambush for them, in readiness for attack, shooting at the army officers sporadically.
Recall that parts of the Eastern region have been on sit-at-home every Monday and any day IPOB Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is to appear in court for his trial.
It is not clear if any life was lost at the attack.
