Unidentified hoodlums said to be numbering about five in the early hours of Tuesday allegedly attacked the home of former House of Representatives member from Abia, Hon. Nnenna Ukeje, burning down a part of her house.

The affected structure is situated in her home town in Bende.

Also burnt are in the incident are two exotic cars parked in the premises.

Although the fire did not burn the exterior of the building.

The stalwart of People’s Democratic Party, PDP represented Bende federal constituency of the House of Representatives.

In a live video posted on his wall, Deputy Chairman of Bende local government area, Promise Uzoma Okoro said the gunmen stormed the home of former lawmaker at about 2am through a perimeter fence.

Seriously affected in the arson is a portion of the building said to be her sitting room.

According to Mr. Okoro, the former House of Representatives member has been under serious threats from unknown quarters.

He further revealed that some boys had earlier written her, warning that they would teach her a lesson.

He noted that all threats against Mrs. Ukeje was properly documented.

He however did not mention who he suspects is behind the heinous crime.

Mixed reactions have trailed the burning of the former Reps member’s country home.

While some see it as blackmail taken too far, aimed at eliciting political sympathy, others condemned the action, saying it was aimed at silencing the female politician.
