Hon. Ogah Urges Support Of CSOs, Others In Elimination Of Malaria In Africa

Chairman House Committee on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria control, Hon Amobi Godwin Ogah has urged relevant stakeholders in Africa to make the fight against malaria their own, saying the virus can be eliminated.

He stated this at his closing remarks during the just concluded African parliamentary engagement on eradication of malaria in in Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon.

He stated as members of the parliament, they have made the fight against malaria their own, urging civil society organizations to follow suit so as to have a robust result.

According to him, the two-day event which aimed at enhancing public health and development of West African nations afforded participants the opportunity to exchange views, and identify the critical challenges facing the fight against malaria.

He expressed optimism that the recommendations shared at the event will assist to prevent, diagnose, treat and monitor malaria in line with the best practices.

Ogah, representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency of Abia State state expressed the readiness of members of parliament to continue enacting laws that will enhance public health as well as oversight functions that will enhance the capacity of public health institutions.

He also urged representatives across Africa to demonstrate commitment towards enhanced the welfare of their constituents.
