Hon. Nkole Mourns Victim of Ohafia Shooting, Tasks Police On Professionalism

The member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency of Abia State, Hon. Uko Nkole has commiserated with the family of Friday Stanley Ota who lost his life during a sporadic shooting by alleged drunk policemen on Friday at Ebem Ohafia.

He also sympathised with the family of Miracle Olugu who is lying critically ill in the hospital after sustaining a gunshot injury caused by the anti-riot police squad drafted to quell the protest arising from the killing of Friday Stanley Ota.

In a release on Sunday, the federal lawmaker while stating that he received the news with sadness urged the families of the victims and all those within the Ohafia vicinity and Ohafia/Arochukwu Federal Constituency as a whole to take heart.

“I also wish to appeal to all those understandably aggrieved by this unfortunate incident to please remain law-abiding, not to take laws into their own hands and please cease all acts capable of threatening the peace in the area.

“I call on the Inspector General Of Police to ensure that the errant officers is brought to justice while urging all Security Agencies to please impress on their officials the need to ensure proper relations with the civil populace and abide by firearms handling regulations.

“May I also commiserate with our dear Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and the people of Abia State who are forced to deal with loss of lives to security agencies even when there is no single case of Coronavirus in Abia State and pray God to continue to grant him the wisdom to navigate the State these difficult times,” he said.
