Member Representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon. Amobi Ogah has suspended all activities lined up by friends and well wishers to celebrate him on his birthday today.
The suspension he noted is as a result of hardship Nigerians are facing which in some cases had led to the death of many.
He said he cannot be seen to be dancing in celebration while hardship ravages his constituency.
In a statement on Sunday, he said, “I cannot be seen dancing and celebrating in public while majority of the masses especially from my constituency are suffering due to economic hardship in the land.
“Why should I celebrate when majority can’t afford good two square meal for themselves and family, when the security in the land has not been addressed and people move in fear and lots more.”
While expressing gratitude to God for gift of life, he also thanked his friends for the thought of organizing a birthday to celebrate him.
“I sincerely appreciate God for keeping me alive but due to the above mentioned issues, it is sad to announce to everyone that this year’s birthday celebration has been cancelled. It is time of reflection and prayers to God for Nigeria to get better and touch the heart of our leaders to address all our challenges and make life better for all.
“I thank you all for wishing me well and I am promising you as your leader in my capacity that I will do everything within my powers to put smiles in your faces as the lord enable us.”
