Hon. Amobi Ogah Sponsors Transformative Bills in National Assembly, Targets Healthcare, Education, Governance Reforms

The Member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, has continued to demonstrate purposeful representation and legislative activism by sponsoring several critical bills aimed at reforming key sectors of the Nigerian economy, governance structure and many others.

As part of his commitment to national development and constituency upliftment, Hon. Ogah has introduced the following landmark bills in the ongoing legislative session:

1. BILL FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SAFETY, ULONNA

This bill seeks to establish a premier institution in Ulonna, dedicated to agricultural research, food safety standards, and agro-innovation. The proposed institute will serve as a centre for advancing Nigeria’s agricultural productivity, enhancing food security, and training the next generation of agro-experts.

2. THE PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS AND HEALTHCARE SERVICE PROVIDERS REGULATION BILL

In a bold push for accountability and improvement of public services, Hon. Ogah has sponsored a bill that would mandate public office holders to patronize only public institutions, including government-owned schools and hospitals. The bill aims to rebuild confidence in Nigeria’s public infrastructure and ensure that leaders share the same service conditions as the citizens they serve.

3. BILL FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE SCHOOL OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY, UTURU

Recognizing the need to address the shortage of trained healthcare professionals, Hon. Ogah is advocating for the creation of a School of Nursing and Midwifery in Uturu, Abia State. Once established, the school will play a vital role in strengthening healthcare delivery and professional training in the region and beyond.

4. BILL FOR THE CREATION OF ETITI STATE

A proponent of political equity, Hon. Ogah is among those pushing for the creation of Etiti State, a proposed sixth state in the South-East geopolitical zone. The bill seeks to carve out Etiti State from 17 LGAs across Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo states, with Okigwe as its capital. The move is aimed at addressing regional imbalance and enhancing governance and development across the zone.

5. FIFTY-YEAR NATIONAL ECONOMIC PLAN ACT

Hon. Ogah is also sponsoring a forward-thinking bill for a Fifty-Year National Economic Plan, which proposes a comprehensive, long-term roadmap for Nigeria’s economic growth. The plan will institutionalize structured development, fiscal discipline, and private sector alignment to ensure consistent national progress over the next five decades.
