The Member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Chairman, House Committee on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Control, Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the renowned international evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, who died on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80.
In a condolence message issued on Monday, Hon. Ogah described Rev. Dr. Ukpai as a spiritual general, an embodiment of humility, and a man whose ministry transformed millions of lives across Nigeria and beyond.
“Rev. Uma Ukpai was not just a preacher; he was a patriarch of faith and a global voice for Christ whose teachings and humanitarian works inspired generations. His passing has created a huge vacuum in the body of Christ,” Ogah stated.
He noted that though the revered cleric hailed from Asaga Ohafia in Abia State, his impact transcended borders through his decades of fiery evangelism and selfless service to humanity, headquartered in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The lawmaker commiserated with the Ukpai family, the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, and the Christian community worldwide, urging them to take solace in the knowledge that the late evangelist lived a purposeful life dedicated to advancing God’s kingdom.
“His name will forever be remembered as a symbol of faith, revival, and compassion. I pray God grants his family and followers the strength to bear this great loss,” Ogah added.
Hon. Ogah further said that Rev. Dr. Ukpai’s life and ministry remain a lasting inspiration to believers and a testament to what it means to live in service of God and humanity.
