At least 160 persons are set to benefit in an Educational Support Palliatives being rolled by the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency of Abia State, Hon. Obi Aguocha.
This is contained in a statement on Wednesday by his media team.
The support which covers two primary school pupils, two secondary school students and one student of tertiary institution will go round the 31 wards in the federal constituency, bringing it to a total of 160.
Expected to flag off January, it will hold per quarter each year.
“We are also aware that soon, back to school pressures will arise. In response, our Honourable member will be rolling out an Educational Support Palliative aimed at achieving (primary 2, Secondary 2 and Tertiary 1) persons per ward, in each of the 32 wards
“This programme is commencing in January 2024 and will continue per quarter of each year for the tenure of my stay in the 10th National Assembly”, the statement said.
While tendering apologies to the constituents for the late arrival of his traditional Christmas relief materials which will not be shared in January across all the wards, the lawmaker said henceforth, he would focus more in human capital development so as to sustainably empower the people people.
He continued, “Finally, the Honourable member has set out a Transport Assistance Programme for 50 people per local government in our Federal Constituency to support our constituents who are experiencing transport fare hardships this season.
“Our ward executives are directed to process and publish the list of beneficiaries in accordance with our established guidelines.
“Additional new capital projects attracted by our Honourable member Chief Aguocha in the 2024 budget for the federal constituency include: Rural electrification and solar lights, Road and school rehabilitation, borehole, and health care and skills acquisition projects, among others, including numerous bills sponsored for the benefit of Nigeria.”
