Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency of Abia State, Hon. Obi Aguocha has reacted to a document requesting for the release details of monies and projects approved and made available for his constituency, saying he is committed to openness and transparency.
In a statement on Friday by his media office, the federal lawmaker said he is aware of the document purportedly issued by the law firm of Messrs Chijioke Udeagu and Co, being circulated on social media.
The request is filed under the Freedom of Information Act which gives person, group, association or organization the right to access information from Government Agencies, Parastatals, Federal Civil Service, Private and Public Sector organizations providing public services, etc.
“Hon. Obi Aguocha welcomes the request, amongst other reasons, to further demonstrate transparency and accountability in public governance and prosecution of capital projects, which are notable personal attributes of the Honourable Member even when he was a private citizen and in community service”, his media office says.
He urged the requesting party to also show the same openness with the official response of the National Assembly.
Hon. Obi Aguocha’s representation according to his media office is without blemish, adding that it would remain the same.
It assured that when the Capital, SDG and Zonal Intervention Projects are fully funded by the Presidency, Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South would have more reasons to be happier, across the three local government areas of the federal constituency.
“We are not distracted but are more focused on delivering on our avowed mandate, including our demand for the unconditional release of our constituent and brother, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“May God bless you. We assure you, this, too, shall come to pass. It will surely end in praise”, the statement added.
