Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency of Abia State, Hon. Obi Aguocha has expressed sadness over the death of first civilian governor of the state, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, saying it is a big loss to the country and South East in particular.

The lawmaker described late Dr. Onu as a man of proven and outstanding integrity who served without blemish.

Dr. Onu, a former Minister of Technology and Innovation in the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, passed away in Abuja on Thursday following a brief illness, a family source confirmed.

Onu, 72 resigned in 2022 to join the APC presidential race but lost the ticket to Bola Tinubu who later became the President.

In a condolence message to family and friends of the late septuagenarian, Hon. Aguocha also described him as an advocate of equity and fairness.

He said the late politician was soft spoken and a true definition of a nationalist who stood for the country’s peaceful even in his advocacy for inclusion.

The lawmaker prayed God to grant the soul of late Onu a peaceful rest.
