Haroun Muhammad Eze From Enugu Makes List Of 5 Newly Appointed Imams For National Mosque

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs has announced the appointment of five new Imams for the Abuja National Mosque.

The new appointees were presented to the public by the Secretary-General of the NSCIA, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, on Tuesday in Abuja.

The five new Imams are Prof. Ilyasu Usman (Enugu State), Prof. Luqman Zakariyah (Osun State), Dr. Abdulkadir Salman (Kwara State), Haroun Muhammad Eze (Enugu State), and Prof. Khalid Aliyu Abubakar (Plateau State).

Oloyede explained that their appointment was confirmed after due consideration by the General Purpose Committee and endorsement by the National Fatwa Committee.

He said, “The NSCIA, since the establishment of the National Mosque in 1984, has been appointing, in succession, qualified Muslims who are worthy in character and scholarship to oversee the spiritual activities of the faithful.

“It is my singular honour to, on behalf of the President-General of the NSCIA, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alh. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar presents to you the newly appointed Imams of the Abuja National Mosque.

“I use this medium to appreciate the President-General of the Council, His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, the GPC, the EGPC, the ANMMB, the National Fatwa Committee and all members of the Muslim Ummah who have played active roles in supporting our smooth sail to the shore of today’s success. I pray that the Almighty Allah continues to imbue our Imams with wisdom, knowledge and forthrightness to lead our teeming worshippers aright.”
