At least two policemen have been feared dead following an attack by gunmen in Asaga Ohafia in Ohafia local government area of Abia State.
They struck at a police checkpoint where the two policemen whose identities could not be ascertained at the moment lost their lives.
The rural community and environs was gathering at the afor market to transact where the policemen had come to provide security.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson of Abia State Police Command, ASP Maureen Chioma Chinaka proved abortive.
This is one of the series of attacks by gunmen in Abia in recent weeks, escalated attacks the state government attributed to opposition figures who work with external forces to destabilise the state.
