Four armed men, believed to be kidnappers, have abducted the wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu from their home in the Arepo area of Ogun State. According to witnesses, at around 9:55 p.m. on Thursday, the former police AIG’s wife was about to enter her compound when the assailants, executing a meticulously planned attack, intercepted her.
Her Lexus SUV was forcibly stopped, and she was dragged out before being whisked away through a swampy area to an unknown location. Her abduction has sent shockwaves through the community and raised serious concerns about security in the region.
Confirming the incident to Vanguard in Abeokuta, spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, said the State Police Command reacted swiftly to the abduction by deploying operatives to secure her release. She added that Mrs. Odumosu was taken through swampy areas to an unknown location.
According to her, “Approximately 9:55 pm, information was received regarding the kidnapping of Mrs. Odumosu, a female resident of Aminu Street, Orange Estate, Arepo, Ogun State. Reports indicate that she was about to enter her home when four masked men attacked her, dragged her from her Lexus Jeep, and took her through the swampy areas to an unknown location. The Divisional Police Officer has led a team of police officers to the scene, where they are currently searching the swampy bush area. The Divisional Police Officer has also contacted Baale Warewa and Baale Maaba to deploy local security forces to the riverine area.
Odutola added that “the State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has been briefed, and all covert operations have been deployed to assist with digital intelligence to ensure she is rescued unhurt.”
As the police intensify their rescue mission, the public remains on edge, awaiting updates on this high-profile kidnapping case that has sent shock waves through the Arepo community.
Meanwhile, the family of the ex-AIG has yet to speak on the kidnapping of the wife of the top retired police officer.
