Gubernatorial Election: Lagos PDP Publicity Secretary Speaks On Forming Alliance With LP

The Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said on Monday that it is not officially in talks with the Labour Party (LP) about forming an alliance ahead of the March 11 governorship and House of Assembly elections.

The Lagos PDP’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Hakeem Amode, revealed this in a statement in Lagos.

Amode, who also serves as the Chairperson, Media, and Publicity, JandorFunke 2023 Campaign Council, was responding to reports that opposition groups in Lagos were planning to create an alliance ahead of Saturday’s elections.

He added that it was authoritative to contradict assertions by the LP Candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, that he was dealing with “the actual proprietors of PDP structure in Lagos State”.

According to him, the statement attributed to Rhodes-Vivour was an insult to the PDP, claiming that no one could lay claim to the party’s ownership structure.

Amode’s statement read in part, “PDP is a proper democratic party and it is only the State Executive of the party as recognized by the National Body that can be described as the custodian of the PDP under the leadership of the party’s Governorship Candidate Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor).”

“So, whoever Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour is talking to is only representing themselves and not Lagos PDP as there is no official conversation between the two parties at the moment.”
