Association of Orphanage Homes in Nigeria, Southern zone, has expressed happiness with Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, for the donation of N300m to orphanages in the country.
The vice president, South of the Association, Chief Godson Akpulonu told newsmen that Davido had continued to show unparalleled support to the cause of improving the living conditions of children living in orphanages in the county.
Akpulonu, who was flanked by the national vice secretary, South, Dr Ikechukwu Onoh and the Zonal coordinator, South East, Callistus Emeh, said that the singer had continued to make orphanage children smile, annually.
Akpulonu who described Davido as a patriotic Nigerian citizen asked other musicians in the country to emulate him.
He said ” Association of Orphanage Homes in Nigeria, ASOHON, Southern zone, is grateful to our brother, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido for donating the sum of N300m to orphanages across the country.
” This is not the first time Davido is identifying with orphanages in this country. In 2021, in celebration of his 29th birthday, Davido donated the sum of N250m to orphanages in Nigeria. In 2023, he also donated N237 million to orphanages in Nigeria. We are grateful to him.
“Davido has shown much love to the managers of Orphanages and these children. To run orphanage homes in this country is very difficult. So, seeing how far Davido is going to give these children good life and support is worthy of emulation.
”We are urging governments in Nigeria and other stakeholders to support orphanages. Governments should start giving us grants. These children deserve to be properly taking care of. These children and ourselves will continue to pray for Davido for kindness to orphanages in the country. ”
He also announced that the 2024 annual conference of the Association will hold in Owerri in September
