A political pressure group known as Orji Uzor Kalu (OUK) Grassroots Movement of Nigeria has dismissed a media report credited to one Hilliard Ettah that the Southsouth geopolitical zone deserves to produce the Senate President ahead of Southeast geopolitical zone as fake news that lacks correct information.
Ettah in his interview with Arise TV picked Southsouth for Senate President ahead of the Southeast because according to him, the Southsouth gave All Progressive Congress (APC) 800, 000 while the Southeast gave the party 100,000 votes.
Reacting to the report the OUK Movement made it clear to Ettah that the Southeast votes cuts across the 36 States of the federation and FCT Abuja courtesy of the group Orji Uzor Kalu (OUK) Grassroots Movement.
The group said it had before the election built structures nationwide in support of Orji Uzor Kalu for President but when Kalu did not run for President, they collapsed the structure for the Presidential candidate of APC Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu who eventually won the election,
National leader of the Movement Alhaji Murtala Mohamed alias Ten Ten told journalists in a press briefing at his office in Abuja that Ettah lacks the right information by saying that the Southeast gave APC only 100,000.
He said OUK Grassroots Movement alone gave APC over 300,000, stating that APC won Ebonyi State governorship election with other seats in the Senate and Federal House of Reps, faulting the position of Ettah on the contribution of the South-east.
The group which had earlier endorsed their principal, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu for the position of the Senate President insisted that the former governor of Abia State and current Chief Whip of the Senate is the right choice for the seat following his experience, audacity, outspokenness, managerial capability as a top-notch businessman and a deep-rooted detribalized pro-Nigeria with wide connections to people that matters across the length and breadth of the nation which he will deploy for stability of Nigeria as Senate President
The group leader recalled that Kalu as Governor of Abia State carried Muslims along by building a Mosque at the State capital in Umuahia and equally built a cattle market for Northerners and their Igbo counterpart in cattle business at Lopanta noting also that Kalu was the only political leader from the Southeast that backed Muslim-Muslim ticket as against the agitation of Igbo youth and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) just to demonstrate the spirit of a detribalized Nigerian.
