A renowned Interpol Systems Consultant, Sir Chikwe Udensi has alleged that misappropriation of the security vote from the federal government by some state governors is one of the reasons why insecurity is festering, stating that some governors convert it to personal pocket money.
According to Sir Udensi, some governors receive as much as N600 million monthly for security votes which he insisted are not deployed to security issues, alleging that they go beyond security vote to pilfer from other sources for their personal use.
In a recent chat with ABN TV, the Abia-born APGA chieftain stated that this cannot be extricated from why the country is embroiled in complex security challenges.
“Even when they receive security votes, they don’t apply it to security architecture. They see it as their pocket money. They even go beyond that to take more for their personal use. There is no adequate allocation for security, no motivation for security operatives, no training, and retraining, the equipment are not there. Do you expect magic? It does not work in security” he declared.
He also attributed the growing insecurity concerns in the South East and across the country to lack of job opportunity for the youths and situation of under-employment.
