In a bid to strengthen the leadership and management of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti has approved the appointment of seven distinguished individuals as additional members of the university’s Governing Council.
The newly appointed members are:
- Elelenta Nwabuisi Elele, PhD
- Stanley Onyekachi Okonta
- Idris Korform Wabara
- Rt. Rev. Nkechi Udunma Nwosu, PhD
- Eng. Kalu Nto
- Monday Ubani, SAN
- Chinyere Juliet Okeziem-Nwoko

These individuals bring a wealth of experience and expertise from various fields to the council and are expected to collaborate with previously announced statutory members to effectively steer the affairs of the university.

This announcement was made on December 23, 2024, by the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Governor, Citizen Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, who stated that the appointments take immediate effect.
The move is in line with the Governor’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and ensuring effective governance at the institution.
