Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He announced this at a stakeholders meeting at the government house in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday.
ABN TV recalls that 17 members of the State House of Assembly, including the speaker, Martins Amaewhule, had defected to the APC on Friday.
The governor and lawmakers have been at loggerheads in the recent past.
The closest indication that Fubara was on his way to the ruling party was the meeting he had with President Bola Tinubu after six APC governors met with the president on Monday.
