The Osun State Government has appointed Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, as the chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund.
According to Osun government, the initiative is part of broader efforts to reposition sports in Osun and ensure the completion of the ongoing renovation of the Osogbo Township Stadium, which is expected to meet Olympic standards once finalized.
The Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Sports, Kola Adewusi confirmed Davido’s appointment while meeting with Sports Writers Association of Nigeria Osun Chapter.
He explained that Davido did not hesitate in accepting the appointment expressing his believe that he will attract funds that will impact Osun sports positively.
Adewusi further announced that plans are in advanced stages towards the establishment of the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as a central body for sports administration, development and policy implementation.
