During the meeting, Governor Otti clarified that the state government has not received any funds from the Federal Government to implement the N35,000 wage award for workers in the state, contrary to misleading information. However, he promised to consider the wage award demand of Abia workers.

ABN TV reports that the Governor announced plans to establish a new Ministry of Labour and Productivity, which will have a Commissioner from the labour sector. This move aims to demonstrate his government’s commitment to making meaningful changes to the state’s governance structure.

The meeting was a significant step in fostering a collaborative relationship between the government and organized labour, ensuring that workers’ interests are protected and their welfare prioritized.
