In a bid to revive the economic fortunes of Aba, Governor Alex Otti has flagged off the reconstruction of the 3.5-kilometer Osisioma-Ekeakpara Road, a critical infrastructure project aimed at restoring the city’s industrial stretch.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Otti described Aba as a city of dreams, trade, commerce, and industry, which has been ravaged by decades of neglect and irresponsibility.
He expressed optimism that the reconstruction of the road will mark the beginning of a new era for the city, creating jobs, stimulating economic growth, and improving the overall quality of life for residents.
The governor emphasized the significance of the Osisioma-Ekeakpara Road, which connects several industrial addresses and has been in a state of disrepair for years. He noted that the road’s collapse led to the relocation of businesses, resulting in job losses and economic hardship for many families.
Governor Otti assured the people of Aba that his administration is committed to restoring the city’s lost glory, leveraging its strategic location and human resources to drive economic growth and development. He appealed to citizens to support the project by paying their taxes and cooperating with the security agencies to ensure the safety of the construction workers and the success of the project.
The reconstruction of the Osisioma-Ekeakpara Road is expected to be completed within 12 months, and Governor Otti has promised to ensure that the project meets the highest standards of quality and durability.
This development is seen as a significant milestone in the efforts to revitalize Aba’s economy and restore its position as a hub for industry and commerce in the region.
