Gov. Otti Flags Off Reconstruction Of Ohafia-Arochukwu Highway, Pledges To Break Jinx Of Neglect (Photos)

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has flagged off the reconstruction of the 41.4km Ohafia-Arochukwu Road, a critical artery connecting several communities and towns in the region.

The project, expected to be completed in 18 months, aims to restore the road to its former glory, boosting economic activities, agriculture, commerce, tourism, education, and industrial manufacturing.

Governor Otti emphasized the importance of trust and problem-solving in governance, highlighting the need to create opportunities, ease burdens, and build new systems of advantages for future generations. He acknowledged the road’s historical significance, built in the 1960s, and its decline due to neglect and abandonment.

The Governor expressed appreciation for the cooperation of the Federal Government, the State Commissioner for Works, and the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi. He also appealed to the Federal Government to consider reimbursing the State for the project, given its economic benefits.
