The Abia State Government has dismissed as false and mischievous, a report circulating on social media alleging that Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, the government described the publication as “a fabrication by political propagandists unsettled by the governor’s rising popularity and record of good governance.”
The statement said Governor Otti remains a proud and committed member of the Labour Party—the platform that brought him to power through the mandate of Abians.
“His focus remains unshaken, to rebuild Abia, restore accountability, and deliver the dividends of democracy to the people,” the release added.
The government recalled that during the October edition of the monthly media parley, “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians,” the governor made it clear that his priority was service to humanity and the transformation of Abia State, not political permutations or defections.
