The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has approved a new monthly stipend of ₦250,000 for traditional rulers across the state.
This announcement was made by the Chairman of the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Linus Nto Mba, in an appreciation message to the Governor on Saturday.
According to Eze Mba, the stipend payment is set to begin in December 2024. He further clarified that the ₦250,000 monthly allowance is separate from the ₦150,000 Christmas package recently approved for over 500 traditional rulers in the state.
“The council is deeply grateful to the Governor for commencing the payment of a ₦250,000 monthly stipend to each traditional ruler in Abia State from December 2024, except for traditional rulers in Aba South, who will receive a different amount,” Eze Mba stated.
He commended Governor Otti for fostering a positive relationship with the traditional institution, emphasizing that such respect was lacking in past administrations.
Eze Mba also pledged the council’s continued support in promoting community peace and security, assuring the Governor of their commitment to eradicating criminal elements for a safer Abia State.
