Abia state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 disease taken his sensitization drive to churches in Umuahia North local government area of the state.
Hon. Vincent Ndimele, Chairman Umuahia North Covid-19 protocol compliance team while speaking with ABN TV on Sunday said the state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu committed to protecting the health of Abians.
He led the team to various churches to ascertain their compliance level regarding the availability of water for hand washing, social distancing during service, use of face mask and other non-pharmaceutical measures for prevention of the spread of COVID-19.
While also expressing gratitude to Umuahia North local government chairman for granting approval for the sensitization campaign, Hon. Ndimele stressed that a mobile court has been set up to try those who are found to have defaulted in complying with the protocol.
He appealed to Abians to at all times assist the government to curtail the spread of the disease by adhering to the Covid-19 protocols.
