A stalwart of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Sir Chikwe Udensi has alleged that resources meant for the development of Abia are being shared among people he described as godfathers.
This according to him is why the state cannot compete favourably with its counterparts in the South East region in terms of development.
He lamented poor infrastructure confronting Abia and the poor level of development in Umuahia the state capital which he said is one of the worse state capitals in the country.
Speaking with ABN TV at the weekend, he said the corruption going on in Abia’s corridor of power is not a product of his imagination but testimony from individuals either working in the government now or in time past.

“Prince Eze Chikamnayo and former Commissioner for Finance, Obinna Oriaku have openly said it that monies belonging to Abians are being shared among cronies and godfathers.
“That is why salaries are not paid and development not taking place. Few individuals are benefitting corruptly from the system. Our neighbours who earn just about 50 per cent of what Abia makes are able to do what they are doing, particularly Ebonyi. The man has a conscience and has no godfather to appease. Abakiliki that was a village in the past is now competing with developed cities but Umuahia is a ghost town” he decried.
He said the state got it wrong in recruiting persons whom he said were not ready for leadership to preside over the activities of the state, saying when he becomes governor in the state would step on toes to make the system work.
