A former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, and an APC chieftain, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, has thrown his weight behind Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, declaring that the Governor deserves a second term in office based on his performance so far.
Dr. Ogah made the declaration on Tuesday during an interview with journalists after a closed-door meeting with Governor Otti at the Governor’s country home in Nvosi, Isialangwa South Local Government Area.
According to the former minister, his visit was primarily to extend New Year greetings to the Governor, but he used the opportunity to commend the administration’s visible impact across the state.
“I think he deserves a second term. I’ve said it times without number. It’s not something arguable anywhere,” Ogah stated. “God has used him to wipe away the tears of Abia people. In just a few years of governance, people can already see positive results coming from his efforts. Abians are grateful. Abians are happy.”
He emphasized that Governor Otti should be given the opportunity to continue his work and fully implement his development plans for the state.
“He should have the opportunity to govern us a second time, so that he can put out there all that he has planned for Abia people. I think it is something that everybody should support him to complete his second term,” he added.
Speaking on the evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections, Dr. Ogah, who is also a former governorship candidate in the state, described the growing political interest and debates as a normal feature of democratic competition.
“Normally in politics, when you have your goods, you need to sell your goods. That’s what opposition means. But at the end of the day, God and Abians will determine who governs them,” he said.
When asked about his personal political ambition for 2027, Dr. Ogah dismissed any plans to contest, stating that his focus is on supporting the current leadership at both state and federal levels.
“The ambition I have is to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the presidency and support Governor Alex Otti for governorship. That’s my ambition,” he declared.
The endorsement adds to the growing list of political figures publicly expressing support for Governor Otti’s administration as preparations for the 2027 elections begin to take shape across Abia State.
