A former Abia lawmaker, Mr Obinna Ichita, has been appointed the Country Director/Principal Representative in Nigeria of the German Initiative for Knowledge Transfer
Ichita was also the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2023 General Elections in Abia won by LP’s Alex Otti.
He represented Aba South State Constituency in the Abia House of Assembly from 2019 to 2023.
In the appointment letter signed by the Board Secretary of the agency, Daniel Ferris, Ichita’s appointment took effect on Monday, January 8.

It stated, “In conjunction with the appropriate authorities and our development partners, you shall coordinate and direct the activities of the agency to achieve the aid and development mandate of the agency in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
It further stated that the “relevant authorities have been notified of this development”.
In a statement issued to newsmen in Umuahia on Monday, Ichita expressed delight over his appointment.
He thanked individuals and corporate organisations that had a hand in his nomination for the job and promised to discharge his responsibilities diligently.
He said that the country would benefit immensely from the initiative in the areas of agriculture, Information Technology, Science and Mathematics, Hydro Carbon, Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence, amongst others.
