Gbajabiamila Commends INEC For 2023 Election, Says Electoral Offenders Bill Will Be Passed

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, says the conduct of the 2023 general elections has shown progress but is not yet perfect.

Mr. Gbajabiamila stated this on Tuesday at the resumption plenary after the election.

The speaker while acknowledging the challenges that bedeviled the election, noted that the House will pass the Electoral Offences Bill to end electoral violence.

“Electoral Offences Act is one area where we must take action before the culmination of the 9th House of Representatives. The Act is necessary to ensure effective enforcement against individuals and organizations whose violations of our electoral laws undermine our constitution and threaten our democracy,” he said.

He also commended the president for signing the 16 constitutional amendment bills.

It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had signed the bill to allow states to among other things, generate and transmit electricity.
