Keyamo Appoints Ganduje New As Chairman Of FAAN Board

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has appointed Abdullahi Ganduje, former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ex-governor of Kano State, as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The announcement was made during the board’s inauguration ceremony in Abuja on Wednesday and was confirmed via a video shared on X by the minister’s special adviser on digital media, Gbenga Saka. Ganduje’s appointment follows his recent resignation as APC chairman.

Other board members sworn in alongside Ganduje include FAAN Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku, Dorothy Duruaka, Ahmed Ibrahim Suleiman, Nasiru Muazu, Omozojie Okoboh, TP Vembe, and Bridget Gold, who will serve as board secretary.

Speaking at the event, Keyamo emphasized the board’s critical role in advancing Nigeria’s aviation sector.

He said, “We must foster an environment where aviation can thrive, connect diverse regions, and promote socioeconomic development. The challenges are many, from infrastructure deficits to the evolving dynamics of global aviation, but I am confident your expertise will help steer FAAN toward its mission.”

Keyamo urged the board to uphold the FAAN Act’s principles by ensuring safety, promoting sustainable growth, enhancing passenger experience, and fostering collaboration.

He reminded them, “The success of FAAN is measured not just in financial growth but by its impact on the lives of Nigerians and the pride our airports represent.”

In response, Ganduje pledged the board’s commitment to supporting the ministry and advancing FAAN’s goals. He highlighted the importance of adhering to the FAAN Act to maintain clear boundaries between the board and executive management while avoiding mediocrity.

“We will work alongside the executive management to ensure effective service delivery,” Ganduje said.

“Our services must meet the highest international standards, reflecting Nigeria’s position as a leading African nation.”
