FRSC Confirms 5 Deaths, 2 Injuries In Abia Auto Crash

The Abia sector command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has confirmed that five persons died. In contrast, two others were injured in an auto accident that occurred on the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway on Sunday.

This was against the 11 persons that were earlier reported to have died in the accident that occurred at Egbelu Mbutu by Cherubim bus Stop, Isiala Ngwa South LGA along, Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway on August 11.

According to a statement by the FRSC made available to ABN TV, the crash involving a Toyota Previa with registration number BKL 291 ZJ, which was travelling to Enugu from Aba, rammed into an unnumbered stationary Mack Truck.

Eleven persons were said to be involved in the crash, including six male adults, two female adults and three male children.

The statement said four persons (two male adults and two male children) died on the spot, while three persons were injured.

It was confirmed that one male adult later died while receiving treatment in the hospital.

The injured victims were reportedly taken to a hospital in the area while and the dead were deposited in a morgue by a rescue team from RS9.32 KM 78, Aba Unit Command.

Three adults and one child who had been handed over to Umuikaa Police Station, were said to have survived the crash without injuries.
