When Nigerian-born European football champion, Samuel Chukwueze of Villarreal FC of Spain visited the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji on Sunday in Umuahia, it resonated the importance of the Speaker’s several mini stadiums in different parts of his constituency and beyond.
No doubt, Samuel Chukwueze who played football in the local streets and makeshift fields as a kid will be happy with what Mr Speaker is doing knowing that the several mini stadiums serve as an impetus and motivation for the younger ones to hone their skills, become sports champions, prosper from it, make society proud and give back to humanity, just exactly like the Villarreal star who hails from the same Amaokwe Ugba community in Umuahia North LGA as the Speaker, is doing today.
The attached images are that of Ibeku Egwu Asaa mini stadium, Isieke, Umuahia, one of Mr Speaker’s stadiums. Its construction has reached advanced stage and very soon, trainings and formal sporting competitions will be holding there, youths will be meaningfully occupied and taken away from social vices, the streets will be more peaceful, talents will be discovered, and many more Samuel Chukwuezes will emerge.
So whenever you come across any of the mini stadiums attracted by Mr Speaker, whether at Isieke, or at St Stephen’s Pry School in the heart of Umuahia, or at Ubakala, or at Umuopara, or at Ikwuano; or even the upcoming ones at Olokoro and Ohuhu, just remember that Abia State is in the process of birthing sports prodigies to be unleashed on the world courtesy of Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, the Multiple Award Winning Speaker of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly, and thanks to the ever reliable Kinetic Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for all his support.
