At least four persons have been neutralised following an early morning attack on Monday on the headquarters of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Imo State.
The State police public relations officer, Michael Abattam confirmed this in interview with Channels TV monitored by ABN TV.
The gunmen threw grenades through the commission’s fence, destroying several offices and vehicles parked in the premises of the office located along Owerri Port Harcourt road
However, the police stationed at the INEC office engaged the gunmen in a heavy shootout , leaving three of the gunmen allegedly wearing charms and Biafra camouflages dead.
One policeman lost his life in the attack while another was injured.
