A former aide to ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo, Mr Akin Osuntokun has been appointed as the new director-general of the presidential campaign council of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, Mr Peter Obi.

Osuntokun takes over the position from Mr Doyin Okupe, who stepped down after a federal high court in Abuja convicted him of violating the money-laundering act by accepting cash of N702 million without going through the banking system.

The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Mr Julius Abure, has described the new campaign DG as a “worthy and trustworthy” replacement for Okupe.
