Former Abia Lawmaker, Humphrey Azubuike, Set To Be Laid To Rest [See Poster]

Hon. Chief Humphrey Ukafor Azubuike, a former member of the Abia State House of Assembly who represented the Ugwunagbo State Constituency, is set to be laid to rest following his passing after a brief illness, ABN TV reports.

He was 58 years old.

Azubuike, a prominent political figure in Abia State, served in the House of Assembly between 2003 and 2015. In the 2019 general elections, he contested as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Osisioma/Ugwunagbo/Obingwa Federal Constituency before his eventual defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The family has released details of the funeral arrangements, which will commence on Thursday, December 19, 2024, with a valedictory session at the Abia State House of Assembly. A service of songs will follow later in his family compound at Ihie Obeaku, Ugwunagbo Local Government Area.

On Friday, December 20, 2024, a series of events will mark his final journey. These include the body’s departure from a mortuary in Aba to his hometown, followed by a lying-in-state at his family compound. The funeral service will take place at St. Michael’s Anglican Church, Ihie Obeaku, with interment immediately afterward.

Azubuike, also known as Enyi Oha 1 of Ngwa Land, was deeply respected as a husband, father, brother, and community leader. His legacy as a lawmaker and political leader will be remembered fondly by many.

He is survived by his family, who have requested prayers for the repose of his soul.

May his soul rest in peace.
