Five Persons Feared Dead In Fresh Benue Attack

Five people have been reportedly killed in a fresh attack on Tse Udeghe village of Mbapa Council ward in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.

Witnesses said several people were injured when the gunmen in large numbers allegedly stormed the village about 4:30 pm on Thursday and opened fire on the inhabitants, killing four on the spot.

The witnesses also said the gunmen, about 7 pm on the same Thursday, blocked the Naka-Makurdi road around Ahume village and opened fire on a vehicle on motion, during which one of the occupants was killed, bringing the number of deaths to five.

A former information officer of Gwer Local Government Area, Francis Ugbede, said the victims of the first attack included a father and his son, alongside two others.
