A portion of the University of Ibadan’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, an undergraduate residence hall exclusively for women, has caught fire.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, although the exact cause of the fire remains unknown as of the time of this report.
The blaze primarily affected the offices of the hall warden and the secretary, raising concerns about the safety and security of students residing in the facility.
Confirming the incident, the Director of Public Relations at the university, Mrs. Joke Akinpelu, said the cause of the fire has not been officially determined, adding that investigations are underway.
“Yes, it is true. The offices of both the Hall Warden and the Secretary were affected,” she emphasized, emphasizing that the university is taking the matter seriously and is committed to ensuring the safety of all students.
“University officials are expected to release more information as it becomes available.”
The university community is urged to remain cautious and report any unusual activities as officials work to address the situation and provide support to those impacted by the fire.
