Finidi Not The Problem Of Super Eagles – Chris Green

Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board member, Christopher Green, has said Super Eagles head coach Finidi George is not to blame for the team’s woes.

The Eagles are on the brink of missing out on another World Cup no thanks to their poor campaign in the qualifiers, where they’ve recorded three draws and a loss.

After four games in Group C, the Eagles are in fifth place on three points, four points behind leaders Rwanda.

Following the team’s poor performance in the qualifiers, the Executive Committee of NFF held an emergency meeting on Wednesday where some resolutions were made.

Top among the resolutions is the appointment of an expatriate Technical Adviser for the Super Eagles in the coming weeks.

Reacting to the idea of employing an expatriate Technical Adviser, Green said he is not in support.

“I’m not in support of a foreign coach for now, if they had brought a foreign coach before this time or when Peseiro was going, it would have been a different thing because the foreign coach would have come as an expatriate,” he said on Brila FM.

“An expatriate is a person you get from outside when you cannot get that kind of person in the country and basically it’s just for result so what they have done to Finidi is not right.

“What support did they give Finidi George? You appointed Finidi George less than one month before crucial matches and you expect him to do magic. Finidi George is not the problem.”

Green also pointed out that if the expatriate coach doesn’t get the expected would he be fired.

He added: ”he expatriate they want to get now, when he comes in and plays a draw and loses a game will he be sacked.”

The Eagles will be back in the World Cup qualifiers in March when they will take on Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
