At a checkpoint in Yola, Adamawa State, in Northeast Nigeria, a female soldier assassinated a senior colleague.

According to reports, the soldier was enforcing the Adamawa State government’s curfew.

Remember that Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri declared the curfew after hoodlums broke into a government warehouse and looted many things, including palliatives meant to mitigate the effects of fuel subsidies.

The female soldier, known as Lance Corporal Nkiru, allegedly shot a captain who sought to interfere in her argument with residents at Yola’s Fire Service Roundabout.

The female soldier reportedly requested that motorists returning home during curfew hours, especially those on important duty, turn around.

“Some people stopped at the checkpoint and explained themselves as workers on essential duties, but the female soldier insisted they must turn back. A captain came forward to intervene. Unfortunately, she had already cocked her rifle, so she just fired and killed him accidentally,” a security officer stated.

The victim was confirmed dead at the Federal Medical Center, Yola, while soldiers instantly arrested and whisked the suspect away.
