A Nigerian pilgrim named Hajia Hawawu Mohammed has reportedly taken her life by jumping from a rooftop in Madina, Saudi Arabia.
The tragic incident was confirmed on Sunday by Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, the Executive Secretary of Kwara State Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Additionally, Mohammed’s demise was also disclosed by authorities in Saudi Arabia, with her passing described as “suicidal”.
Similarly, the death of another pilgrim, Saliu Mohammed was revealed by the Kwara State Board. The deceased was a member of the Batch 3 contingent from the aforementioned state and he died in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Medina.
“It deeply regrets these sad events but submits totally to the decree and ultimate knowledge of Allah in all affairs”, the board stated.
Furthermore, the board shared the death of yet another pilgrim, Abubakar Abdullahi in Makkah, Saudi Arabia in a statement by Alhaji Ahmed Idris, the Chief Press Secretary to Kebbi Governor. Abubakar hailed from Gulma town Argungu Local Government Area.
Per the statement, the pilgrim died after a brief illness. He is the third person to pass on in the Holy Land.
Speaking on the development, Governor Nasir Idris expressed shock and prayed to God to grant rest to the deceased.
“The governor also urged the immediate family of the deceased, friends, and Kebbi pilgrims to take heart and accept the will of God in good faith”, the statement added.
