Federal High Court Announces 2025 Annual Vacation Schedule

The Federal High Court has announced that its 2025 annual vacation will begin on July 28 and run through September 16, with normal court sittings scheduled to resume on September 17.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by the court’s Director of Information, Mrs. Catherine Oby Christopher, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to Christopher, while the court will be on vacation nationwide, three key divisions — Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt — will remain operational to handle cases deemed extremely urgent.

“Consequently, the litigating public will be at liberty to approach only the above-listed courts located nearest to them,” she stated.

The statement also named the judges who will preside over urgent matters during the vacation period:

• Abuja: Justice Emeka Nwite and Justice M. S. Liman

• Port Harcourt: Justice P. M. Ayua and Justice A. T. Mohammed

Christopher noted that the vacation is in accordance with the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4(d) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019.

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, also extended his best wishes to fellow judges, saying he wished “his fellow lordships a pleasant vacation in advance.”
