Activities at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and its affiliated Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) began returning to normal on Wednesday as workers resumed duties following a court order suspending their strike action.
The National Industrial Court of Nigeria, presided over by Justice E. D. Subilim, on Tuesday directed workers under the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) to suspend their strike to allow for continued dialogue with the government.
In compliance with the ruling, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, urged workers to immediately return to their offices, noting that while the right to protest is recognised in a democracy, all parties must respect court orders.
Following the directive, the Acting Head of the Civil Service of the FCT, Mrs. Nancy Sabanti, issued a circular dated January 27, 2026, instructing all Secretariats, Departments, and Agencies to open and maintain staff attendance registers to ensure full compliance with the court’s decision.
The circular further directed Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Departments, Parastatals, and Agencies to enforce the immediate resumption of work while reaffirming the administration’s commitment to prioritising staff welfare.
A visit to various FCTA offices and affiliated MDAs on Wednesday showed significant compliance, as workers were seen within their offices and premises, carrying out their regular official duties.
