Residents of Abia and environs will soon heave a sigh of relief as the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji has assured that Faulks Road in Aba North Local Government Area, and at Ngwa Road in Aba South Local Government Area will be constructed to ease the people’s burden.
The Speaker along with his colleagues were at an oversight function on the affected roads on Wednesday where he expressed concern over the suffering of the communities and motorists in the affected roads.
Rt Hon Ifeanyi Uchendu, Deputy Speaker and Chairman, House Committee on Media and Publicity told ABN TV that the Speaker appealed for more patience among the people, noting that the state government will take action on the roads as soon as the rains are over.
He said, “At Faulks Road in Aba North Local Government Area, and at Ngwa Road in Aba South Local GovernmentArea, the Speaker who spoke on behalf of Members of the House about the condition of the roads, told the people that the state Lawmakers feel their pains and worries but quickly assured them that the legislators shall be having an interface with the Executive Arm to ensure that the Governor’s promise for construction works to recommence on the roads were not in any way circumvented.
“He told the relevant Commissioners present during the visit to help the Governor realise his dreams of fixing the roads” the statement read in part.
According to Hon. Uchendu, the contractors handling the road projects shall soon be summoned to appear before the House as part of actions to ensure that the roads were fixed.
The Speaker, he said appealed to the people to exercise some more patience as works were expected to recommence on the roads as soon as the rains were over.
