The much-advertised ICT training programme for youths of Abia State sponsored by the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji kicked off in Umuahia yesterday with an orientation exercise for the participants.
The Ogoja Lane venue of the training was a beehive of activities as youths thronged the training center from different parts of the State.
Speaking at the event, the Speaker who was represented by Hon Suleiman Ukandu expressed delight at the zeal shown by the youths describing it as a satisfying reward for his sponsorship of the programme.

He thanked the facilitators of the training, Naprima Ideal Technologies Ltd, and their partners for helping make the training a reality assuring that he is even more committed now than ever before in ensuring that youths of Abia are empowered to be self-sustaining entrepreneurs and employers of labour.
He emphasised that in this period when security is becoming a challenge to the nation, one of the best ways to curb it is to gainfully engage the youths in useful ventures like the training programme and give them a sense of hope.
Earlier in his welcome address, the CEO of Naprima Ideal Technologies Ltd, Mr. Ukaegbu Prince Mayor, thanked the Speaker for accepting to sponsor the training programme for the youths and promised that by the end of the training period, the participants would be knowledgeable enough to start up their own IT practice and earn a living from it.
He said that because of the number of those who registered for the training, several centres have been opened in Umuahia, and more facilitators engaged to train the students.
Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Lucky took the participants through the training details including venues, time, course contents, etc.
Several dignitaries who spoke at the event commending the Speaker and encouraging the participants included: Hon Eme Odeghe, T.T. Temple (Nollywood Actor), Barr Prince Okpanku.
Mazi Kenneth Ezeigbo, Chief of Staff to the Speaker in his vote of thanks expressed appreciation to all for making it a memorable day.
Other dignitaries who graced the event included Hon Miller Donatus Ohaeri, Hon Augustine Ibe, Hon Okezie Aguiyi, Hon Chidozie Okpechi, Hon Andrew Uwaga, Sir Onyebuchi Obinna, Hon Acho Ojukwu (MD Glajosh Hotel and Suites), Elder Odum Onyemaechi, and Hon Charles Nwaobiara.
The training is expected to last for two months with certificates issued to participants at the end.
