Ex-SGF Anyim, Gov. Umahi Reconcile Differences, Backs APC Guber Candidate Nwifuru

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Pius Anyim, and Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State reconciled their age gap a few days before the governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state and vowed to deliver the All Progressives Congress, APC, gubernatorial candidate, Francis Nwifuru.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, House of Reps, Mr. Livinus Makwe, who now represents Ohaozara, Onicha, and Ivo Federal Constituency, and the Labour Party, LP, deputy governorship candidate, Aja Nwabueze, have also pledged support for the APC candidate.

According to him: “I believe in zoning and rotation of the governorship. It is the turn of the Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone.”

“And the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ebonyi State is the right person.”

Anyim, a member of the PDP’s Board of Trustees, stated this while chatting with reporters at a town hall gathering hosted by Governor Umahi in his village of Ishiagu, Ivo LGA.

In response, Gov Umahi tasked the people of Ishiagu to support the APC Guber candidate, Nwifuru, for the sake of Ebonyi State’s equality, fairness, and unity.

He praised Ayim, a former Senate President, for declaring support for the APC Guber candidate and promised better development for the community if the APC wins the governorship and House of Assembly elections on March 18, 2023.

In a fast response, Mr. Moses Idike, Deputy Director of the PDP Campaign Council for Media and Publicity, condemned Anyim’s support for APC Guber candidate Nwifuru as unjustified and uncalled for, emphasizing that such support takes precedence over the public interest.

Idike said: “The struggle for the liberation of Ebonyi people is beyond the mantra of equity as being mouthed by Anyim; it’s obvious that he has traded the trust of the people for his personal gains.

“Remember, when his candidate Obinna Ogba lost and he also lost his presidential bid, he became broke. So this move is not genuine, it’s a fight for survival. Anyim has never been a sincere person.

“In PDP, we are not losing sleep over Anyim’s defection to APC; he cannot even win Ivo LGA.”
