The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has said it will not miss the former Deputy Governor of the state, Ude Chukwu, who resigned his membership from the party.
According to the party, Chukwu’s resignation is a liberation.
Chukwu had, in a letter to the PDP dated August 5, 2025, announced his resignation from the party.
He stated, “While it was a difficult decision to make, it is the best course of action for me at this time. I am most grateful for the opportunities the party availed me to serve at various levels and appreciate the experience and knowledge gained during my membership of the party.”
Reacting to the resignation in a statement made available to Saturday PUNCH, the state Chairman of the PDP, Abraham Amah, said, “The Peoples Democratic Party addresses the resignation of Chukwu with a clear conscience, boldness of truth, and unwavering conviction. Let it be boldly declared: his exit from our great party is not a loss, it is liberation. It is purgation. It is good riddance to bad rubbish.
“Here was a man who, for 20 long years, occupied prime positions of power under the benevolence of the PDP: 12 years in the Abia State House of Assembly, four of which he served as Speaker; and eight years as Deputy Governor. Twenty uninterrupted years of privilege, platform, and prominence — with absolutely nothing to show for it.
“He singlehandedly managed the Internally Generated Revenue of the state for eight solid years. Yet, the state was left in a worse fiscal condition, with no traceable infrastructure or economic transformation tied to his stewardship. In Ohafia, his home LGA, his record is a barren land of wasted years.
