Esther Oge Global Foundation has intensified its campaign to combat Gender-based Voilence (GBV) while advocating for Women Development in Nigeria.
This is as they conclude the two days “Women Making Impact Project” in Abia state, Nigeria on the 27th and 28th March, 2024
Speaking with Newsmen at Government House, the President and Founder of the foundation, Mrs. Esther Oge,a Nigerian-born American based Philanthropist who worked with Johns Hopkins medicine Baltimore Maryland, USA, said that the foundation is bringing joy to people, empowering and supporting families as a proactive way to tackle gender-based violence, poverty reduction, combats human trafficking, child labor and reduce crime.
Oge added that the plight of the girl child, Aged parents and vulnerable people in this part of the world is pitiable while stressing that Aged people needs geriatric support,love and care and constant awareness on the spread of HIV/AIDs and medication as well as avoiding stigmatization of those living with the virus is essential.
The project by the foundation was carried out in Egwuena Girls Secondary School, Abiriba in Ohafia Local Government and Ibeku HigH School, Umuahia in Abia State, Nigeria.
Featuring at the school visit was the distribution of over 1000 sanitary items, education materials, career talks, gender-based violence and HIV/AIDs awareness.
The Founder of the Foundation also used the opportunity to thank The Mayor of Ohafia LGA, Chief Dr David Onuoha Ogba Bourdex OON OFR who played host to her team after the first day of the programme assuring them of his unwavering support as he was unveiled as a Member of trustees and the Enachioken of Abiriba, HRM Eze Dr. K.K. Ogbu IV.
Dr Nwaka Inem The Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade Commerce and Industry who received the team on behalf of the Commissioner for Women Affairs assured them of taking the message to the Dr Alex Otti government through the ministry of women Affairs that the Dr Alex Otti government is open to positive and people-oriented collaborations and partnerships.He thanked the Foundation for their humanitarian and patriotic services geared towards creating a better future for all and contribute in state building.
