Escalating Hardship: Tinubu Meets With Governors

As part of government efforts to mitigate the prevailing food prices in the country, President Bola Tinubu is presently meeting with all 36 state governors at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

This is the second time the president is meeting with the state Governors since he inaugurated the National Economic Council on June 15, 2023.

The meeting followed increasing food prices and hardship in the country which has led to disenchantment among many segments of the society.

On Wednesday, the Northern Traditional Rulers Council raised an alarm over the deplorable economic situation in the country, warning that the country was sitting on a keg of gunpowder.

Before then, opposition governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had asked the federal government to act fast as Nigeria was almost going the way of Venezuela.

There has been pockets of protests in some parts of the country such as Niger, Kano, Ondo and and other states where citizens demanded solutions to the food crisis and insecurity.
