Former Manchester United striker, Michael Owen, has named Manchester City as the favourite to win the Premier League title this season ahead of Arsenal.
Owen still expects Man City to win the English top-flight league title this term despite Arsenal going five points clear on top of the Premier League table heading into the mid-season break for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
According to him, Pep Guardiola’s side is the best team in England ahead of Arsenal and others and will lift the English top-flight title in May 2023.
Recall that Arsenal defeated Wolves 2-0 over the weekend to move five points clear ahead of Man City, who suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at Etihad to Brentford.
“They are certainly sitting pretty at the top, are not they? A lot of people are thinking Arsenal are the real deal now and I am one of them,” Owen told Premier League productions.
“It is crept up on us really. They have been steadily improving over the last few years but there is been a massive improvement this season.
“I still think that Manchester City is the best team, I still think that they are the favourites to win the title.
“But that defeat to Brentford has all of a sudden given a few teams that might have thought they were out of it a little gee up maybe.”
